The Importance of Fathers & Male Role Models
Kosciusko County Head Start / Early Head Start recognizes and honors fathers and male role models who play a significant role in raising a child. Evidence demonstrates that fathers play a critical role in children’s health and development, beginning in the prenatal period and continuing through early childhood and adolescence. One of the program-wide goals is to increase opportunities for father-figure engagement.
What the research says about father-figures who are involved in their young children’s lives:
- Supports the child’s school readiness
- Contributes to the well-being of the entire family
- Shows gain in their own development and life decisions
