Our Mission: To promote the development of children zero to three years of age, by providing comprehensive services to families while emphasizing the role of parents as their child’s first and most important teacher.

Early Head Start is a federally funded program that provides early childhood education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to low-income children and their families.

Kosciusko County Head Start/Early Head Start believes parents are their child’s forever teachers.

Kosciusko County Early Head Start (KCEHS) is a program serving prenatal mothers and children age 0-3, by offering Home Based services with a qualified teacher who comes to the home to work with children one-on-one for 90 minutes each week, year-round. Socializations are scheduled twice per month to provide parents the opportunity to interact with other parents, participate in activities with their own child, and allow their child to experience play with other KCEHS children.

KCEHS partners with parents to monitor their children’s health, nutritional, mental health and dental needs, and their developmental progress.

About 2 years ago, when Amanda began working with my son as his EHS home visitor, I started to notice an improvement in his motor skills, colors, and shapes. I’ve noticed him interacting better with children his own age, and adults too. The EHS playgroups have had a direct impact on him with opening up to new people. Home visits and playgroups have made him less shy and more sociable. I’m a first time Dad, and EHS has made a huge impact by always having suggestions for me and always providing resources if I need them. Early Head Start is a great program in the community. They do a great job!

The prenatal program for Early Head Start has helped me by giving me someone to talk to and helping me get the most up-to-date prenatal information out there since I am a 3rd time mom. Also, talking with my Home Visitor on the stresses and problems I may be having really helps. She listens and expresses how she can also relate and provides me with beneficial information.
