Cardinal Services was established in 1954 by a group of families who had children with disabilities and wanted to offer more opportunities for their loved ones.  What originally started as a classroom, has now evolved into 11 different programs that help over 4,000 children and families with challenges, individuals with disabilities.   

Although Cardinal Services receives funding from Medicaid, it does not cover the costs required to operate all of our programs.   We are able to continue operations because of gifts and donations from those who believe in our mission-to assist and advocate for people with disabilities or challenges to live lives full of dignity, growth and opportunity.  Quite simply, we rely upon our donors.  This is especially true of those who join our Investing In People Society.  

What is the Investing In People Society? 

The Investing In People Society is a committed group of supporters who make a financial commitment of at least $1,000/year to walk alongside Cardinal Services for a minimum of five years.  With only two of our eleven programs covering their costs, this partnership sustains programming long term.  

Who are members of our Investing In People Society? 

The Investing In People Society is made up of supporters who believe in our mission to assist and advocate for people with disabilities or challenges to live lives full of dignity, growth and opportunity.  They are members of our community, your friends, and neighbors who want to help make sure Cardinal Services will be here for a long time to come.  They are you!

The Impact of an Annual Gift  

An annual gift from an Investing In People Society donor creates sustainability and stability because it helps to meet our greatest needs for five years.  Beyond bridging the gap to pay for programming, gifts can help purchase life-changing items for the people we serve.  Some examples include:   

• Adaptive equipment such as specialized power wheelchairs for individuals with physical and intellectual challenges 
• School supplies for children in our Head Start program 
• Assistive technology and electronic devices for adults with disabilities
